The Logistics UK Policy team are respected for their knowledge and expertise - including the annual Logistics Report.


Job Summary:


  • Lead and deliver Logistics UK campaigns and thought leadership reports on business, economic and taxation policy ensuring activity reflects member priorities.
  • Represent member interests in relevant media interviews and events and with key decision makers.
  • Work closely with policy team colleagues to support their events and reports quality assuring economic and financial content.
  • Lead on Logistics UK relationship with HMT business and financial stakeholders.
  • Carry out effective engagement with decision makers and influencers, e.g. Ministers, MPs, government officials and industry stakeholders, to influence policy decisions.
  • Produce high quality reports, consultation responses, briefing documents, speaking notes and presentations, for a variety of audiences, as appropriate.
  • Deliver effective presentations to Members and a variety of external stakeholders, and the media.
  • Collaborate closely with Policy Department colleagues by providing expert support on policy issues and lines to take for their engagement with decision makers and members.
  • Contract management for any Logistics UK consultant support eg for productivity and economics related reports.
  • Effective crossorganisation working to deliver wider business objectives, for example working with Member Relations, Communications and Marketing.

Requirements:


Responsibilities:


  • Devise and lead policy campaigns on business, productivity and finance topics, with the ability to pick up additional topics as required.
  • Responsibility for policy engagement related to assigned responsibilities monitoring relevant developments and ensuring Members are appropriately informed.
  • Ensure accuracy in policy information and positions on assigned topics and ensure consensus Member views are accurately represented.
  • Provide expert policy support across Logistics UK on assigned topics to help deliver wider business goals.
  • Lead on productivity and business related reports identifying priorities, commissioning and drafting reports and or overseeing consultant leads as appropriate.
  • Oversight of Logistics UK thought leadership and information reports and advice from an economics perspective.
  • Oversight and design of member insight reports tapping in to policy team colleague expertise and or working with specialist advisors as appropriate.
  • Team management ability to coach and develop direct reports and collaborate with the wider team.
  • Demonstrate the Logistics UK's core values (Excellence, Dynamism, Togetherness, Reputation).

Essential Experience & Qualifications:


  • Economics to a minimum of degree level or equivalent.
  • Persuasive and articulate communication skills, both written, verbal and using presentations.
  • Ability and confidence to represent Logistics UK externally at the highest levels of government and with media.
  • A team player able to contribute to Logistics UK's wider policy, communications and commercial objectives.
  • Understanding of how public policy is developed and how to influence it.
  • Interest in logistics issues.
  • A willingness to travel on a regular basis, as required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.

Optional Experience and Qualifications:


  • Experience working on macro and micro economic policy and transport including policy experience within a business for an agency, trade association or government an advantage.
