Location:
Irlam/Stockport

Hours: 40 hours


Reporting to:
Workshop Manager

Main Objectives:


  • Support Production Manager in achieving delivery schedule from production plan.
  • Organise and issue work to the shop floor for production.
  • Ensure all stock is controlled and assigned to specific works instructions.
  • Take an active role in enforcing health & safety requirements of the company.
  • Supervise steelwork in the yard and callin steel for production.
  • Assist QA department in maintaining quality and integrity of products.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate Production Managers directives to maximise efficiency and production.
  • Support senior management in developing the company and its efficiency for future works.
  • Lead shop floor production and advise Production Manager on production status.
  • Ensure Works Instructions are completed with Fabricator and welder information.
  • Assist during the Technical review from a practical viewpoint.
  • Act upon quality issues raised by the QA department.
  • Carryout necessary policies and procedures to ensure that plant and equipment is effectively maintained to ensure maximum production efficiency.
  • Monitor man hours assigned to works instructions ensuring targets are met.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and suppliers.
  • Assist Production Manager in controlling and directing, factory staff to ensure that they are properly motivated, trained and developed, and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards and in accordance with health & safety regulations
  • Help develop the fabrication shop throughput to achieve production plan targets and maximise efficiency.
  • Organise and outline work for night shift.
  • Perform any other related duties as Management may require from time to time.
  • Ensure workshop is clean, tidy, and wellordered at all times.

Required:


  • Excellent communication skills and man management skills to oversee a busy factory.
  • A willingness to take and implement management instruction.
  • To set and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Formal qualifications in fabrication/welding.
  • Experience in heavy structural steel.
  • The ability to record and review fabrication and welding times.

Desired:


  • To work proactively to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • To gain a broader understanding of ISO 9001, CE marking and BS EN 1090.
  • Understanding of CAD software
  • Clean driving licence.
