This is an exciting time to be joining our redesigned and evolving Information Governance team within the Informatics Division as our Information Governance Officer.

The Role

With no such thing as a typical day, your working day may include:

  • Working with key leads to ensure evidence is collated to support compliance with national Information Governance standards, including the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit submission.
  • Contributing to the development of effective work programmes for staff in order to ensure that high standards for Information Governance compliance are implemented and maintained across the Trust.
  • Helping with the development and delivery of Information Governance training programmes to staff at all levels across the organisation.
  • Or acting as the source of expertise on information governance issues, including Data Protection, Information Security and any related legislation.

What are we looking for from you:
First and foremost we are looking for someone with a passion for information governance;

  • Previous experience of working in an Information Governance Role.
  • Good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018/UK GDPR and Caldicott principles.
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection and Security Toolkit (DPST) or previous Information governance Toolkit.
  • A good understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel skills and abilities.

Planning and organisational task / duties

  • To support Trust wide staff in the development of action plans in liaison with Information Governance stakeholders to support achievement of Information Governance standards
  • To provide support to ensure that the organisation complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
  • Planning Supervision, line management and development of junior staff as required using trust Policy and training and development opportunities
  • To be as source of expertise on matters relating to Information Governance
  • To be involved in ad hoc clinical informatics projects
  • To be involved in Trust wide development of internet and intranet and disseminate training to staff
  • To develop elearning modules for Information Governance and IT security.
  • To manage, coordinate, plan and actively participate in Information Governance meetings and associated project meetings relating to Clinical Informatics
  • Provide reports to the relevant Trust Committees such as Information Governance and IT Committees
  • Provide evidence and provide input into Trust annual reports and annual DoH / CQC returns
  • Support the Information Governance Manager with the Data Protection and Security Toolkit
  • Workload planning for self and others (including but not exhaustive of) the Registration Authority Agent and freedom of information requests.
  • To contribute to Information Governance strategy, plans and achievements in order to support the IM&T Business Plans and Trust's Informatics Strategy.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of technical information security projects, including the encryption programme.
  • Initiate and develop plans relating to data mapping and any other areas deemed necessary.
  • To develop and maintain improvement plans for the various areas of Information Governance.
