To manage and maintain the site facilities and plant ensuring a safe, cost effective and legally compliant working environment for all staff and activities that are based there.


To lead the team of facilities staff to maintain existing plant and facilities and to identify, justify and over-see specific site improvement projects as required and appropriate.

Main Responsibilities

The Eastbourne Product Company is the centre of excellence for electronics design and manufacture within the Group. Staffing is currently split equally between Operations and New Product Engineering. The design staff are supported by EMC, test and environmental labs. The manufacturing operation requires equipment reliability to be maintained at a high level.

The role of the Facilities Lead includes:

  • Continuous awareness of the site requirements, status, maintenance and utilities
  • Timely and appropriate reaction to breakdowns, repairs and changing needs of the business
  • Planning and execution of routine tasks and planned maintenance.
  • Planning justification and implementation of improvement projects
  • Interaction with external agencies as required to anticipate, plan, and react to requirements that maintain the site legal and compliance status with local authority, and SHE needs
  • Identification and use of external sources of relevant knowledge, excellence and associated services, including industry benchmarks, key suppliers, trends etc.
  • Identification and selection of relevant strategies, methods and suppliers to enable site operation
  • Cost awareness and improvements in the fields of interest for site operation
  • To ensure that all site facilities, plant and infrastructure remain compliant with all relevant legislation ensuring a safe working environment for all.
  • To keep up to date with Legislation and ensure that Eastbourne PC complies with latest standards where appropriate.
  • To ensure corporate safety standards are incorporated into current working practice.
  • To ensure laboratory environments facilitate business requirements
  • Ensure all maintenance and project work is carried out to defined safety standards

To lead the maintenance team on site:

  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources
  • both internal and external
  • Identify key external partners and build working relationships
  • Plan and implement all routine maintenance activities using Planet FM tool
  • Review and renegotiate contracts annually including energy, security, waste, catering and cleaning,
  • Ensure production breakdowns are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner to enable site to meet delivery commitments
  • Ensure a replacement programme is in place to replace End of life and noneconomic site facilities
  • To support operations in confirming services specification and installation requirement of new equipment
  • Front desk and administration to meet site and visitors needs
  • Carry out annual appraisals and identify development needs for all staff
  • To ensure all processes and records are correct, up to date and available for audits and inspection
  • To ensure Planet FM is used to plan all routine maintenance activity and record all breakdown incidents
  • To ensure all historical service and corrective action records are available for all audits
  • To ensure historical records are maintained so that recommendations can be made on reliability of all equipment on site
  • To plan, justify and implement agreed projects
  • To ensure site is secure and clean and to support environmental issues
  • To manage and control access to site ensuing a secure environment for all colleagues
  • To ensure site complies with Company Environmental requirements and assist HSE Manager in implementing these
Cost Management

  • To ensure all Budget Controls are in place and reviewed regularly in line with company policy
  • To seek and enact cost reduction opportunities especially around use of energy and provision of external services
  • To ensure department remains within in agreed budget constraints
