  • Job description

  • This is an exciting role, working as an officer within a small team who manage communications and engagement for the Boston Barrier project. You will work with members of the project team to plan and deliver communications and engagement activity. This will involve supporting colleagues to deliver bespoke engagement with our local authority partners and key stakeholders, as well as planning and producing materials for press, social media and internal communications. There will also be the opportunity to get involved with other communication and engagement projects to increase wider community awareness of flood risk. This is a great opportunity for a skilled professional to work in a dynamic team, making a real contribution to managing the impacts of climate change.
The team's work solely concentrates on the delivery of the Boston Barrier project.

The first phase of construction was completed between which included the building of flood walls and the centrepiece of the project, the 25m primary barrier gate, which became operational in December 2020.

The second phase of works is focused downstream of the primary barrier at the Port of Boston and includes installing two land
- based flood gates, a large 18m vertical sector gate in the wet dock entrance, and associated works to further protect properties downstream of the Barrier.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
