Environmental Services Improvement Team Leader:

Tower Hamlets is a vibrant and diverse borough, located on the City Fringe, with one of the fastest growing populations in London.

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Public Realm Division supporting the delivery of waste services.

The Environmental Services Improvement team is responsible for Tower Hamlets' waste disposal statutory functions, waste strategy, waste reduction and behavioural change activities.

About the role
Working within Operational Services and reporting to the Environmental Services Improvement Manager, the role's main duties include:

Providing technical expertise in environmental services;
Supporting the development and delivery of Tower Hamlet's waste management strategy objectives;
Budget monitoring and management;
Leading on waste reduction and recycling communication campaigns and initiatives;
Providing management of the waste disposal and treatment contracts.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual, with strong leadership skills to oversee the management of a number of service improvement projects, contract management and analysis and reporting of waste data.

The person will have knowledge of waste legislation, national and regional waste policy, experience in contract management and waste disposal and an understanding and experience of the workings of local government.

The role is permanent full time, 35 hours per week.
