Health and Safety Officer (Part time)
£13 to £15 per hour
Sure Staffing, working in partnership with a leading supplier of mushrooms is looking to recruit for an experienced health and safety officer.
We are looking for a reliable Health & Safety Officer for our client to ensure everyone in the company complieswith health and safety laws.
You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.As a Health & Safety Officer you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinaryworkforce is essential. Stand-alone delivery of a pro-active and professional H&S Service to the business through effective implementation of policies and procedures. To provide business aligned H&S Objectives that support the achievement of the company objectivesand drive a safe working culture.
The Primary duties of the
Health and Safety Officerwill be:
Key Activities:
- Work closely with Senior team and Line Managers, providing them with expert advice and guidance, coaching and developing their knowledge on H&S Policies, Safe Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments.
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Carry out regular workplace inspections and generate action plan to encourage improvement of practices and housekeeping with the workforce
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes and assist in prevention of further incidents
- Encourage near miss reporting to encourage the workforce to become aware of their safety and that of their colleagues
- Maintain incident reporting system and management action plan
- Develop emergency procedures for the site and maintain records for the Fire Log Book
- Develop COSHH management system to collate all hazardous substances information and ensure the workforce are aware of the hazards and precautions needed
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Carry out risk assessments
- Provide Health and Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks for staff
- Update Safe Operating Procedures
- Lead H & S Committee meetings, ensuring company compliance is adhered to.
Health and Safety Officer:
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
- Driven and motivated.
- Completer / Finisher.
- Strategic thinker.
- Basic knowledge of Occupational Health protocol.
- Previous experience in a fastpaced HR Department.
- Previous experience in training.
- Positive attitude to work colleagues.
- CPP / Foundation Diploma in HR.
- Solid computer / technology skills.
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Chartered Membership of IOSH
- Extensive and up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Experience of Health and Safety management
Health and Safety Officer:
- 20 hours per week flexible
- Hours of operation of the business 7 days will need to be flexible to meet the demands of the business.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet the demands of the business.
Pay and benefits of therole:
- Excellent salary opportunities of £13.00 to £15.00 per hour
- Company approved pension scheme.
- 28 days holiday per year (Pro Rata) including bank holidays.
