An opportunity to join a friendly charity working with individuals who have, or have had substance use issues, Build on Belief is looking for a Mental Health Senior Peer Support Worker to support individuals who have had mental health problems, and to provide a range of support during the week helping said individuals to re-integrate into wider society.

The post holder will provide high quality supervision to one Mental Health Peer Support Worker and one Social Prescriber.


You will work closely with the Operations Manager of Build on Belief and local Lead Managers to provide a wide range of support services during the week, along with staff from the CNWL NHS Mental Health Team.

REPORTS TO:
Operations and Training Manager


ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will work closely with our Operations Manager and local Lead Service Managers, along with CNWL NHS staff to provide a range of support to individuals who have had problems with their mental health, as well as provide lived experience specific supervision and support to one Mental Health Peer Support Worker and one Social Prescriber.

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person with previous experience of peer support working who is supportive of the work we do and is capable of both meeting deadlines and managing their own workload.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Work with the staff of Build on Belief and CNWL NHS to provide support to individuals who have had problems with their mental health.
  • To provide high quality individual supervision to two member of staff
  • To work with the multidisciplinary team alongside the peer support worker/social prescriber to deliver support to clients.
  • To promote the use of a 'coaching' role to support clients in developing personal recovery plans.
  • To model and mentor a recovery process and demonstrate selfmanagement skills and techniques, using personal experiences of recovery.
  • Support clients with the completion of housing and benefit forms, and to accompany clients to relevant housing and benefit appointments where necessary.
  • To accompany patients to visit potential placements
  • To accompany patients to visit their homes, either to collect belongings or assess the habitability of the environment prior to discharge, and work with the staff team to identify if further assessment of the home environment is required.
  • Provide one to one peer support to patients as part of the discharge planning process.
  • To work with the Occupational Therapy Team regarding referrals for onetoone peer support for discharge planning.
  • To work closely with the ward team in respect of referrals, feedback, and information sharing.
  • To manage and oversee the social club every Wednesday.
  • To supervise and support volunteers and service users.

2. Administration

  • To effectively organise workload and priorities when supporting and supervising two members of staff while providing internal learning and development opportunities.
  • To support and guide the team in the management of their caseload to meet local service requirements.
  • Ensure that accurate records in respect of the activities of the team and the wider support provided to patients are kept, and provided to the Build on Belief Operations Manager, the Ward Team, and the Occupational Therapy Team in a timely fashion or upon request.
  • Ensure that relevant records are kept in line with Build on Belief policies and procedures.
  • To write quarterly reports for Contract Monitoring purposes.

3. Human Resources

  • To ensure regular and highquality professional supervision of the mental health peer support worker/social prescriber. To contribute to annual appraisal of staff who are supervised.
  • To support individual the mental health peer support worker/social prescriber to identify their own learning needs.
  • Support the mental health peer support worker/social prescriber to access the online training delivered by Build on Belief, and to ensure accurate training records are kept.

4. I.T.
Ensuring that Build on Belief I.T. equipment is used for the purpose provided, and within the policies and procedures of the charity.


5. Communications, including website and social media

  • Preparing updates on new and current activities for the Organisation Manager to be used on social media sites and the Build on Belief website.
