What does the role look like?


This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team of individuals with the objective to deliver real cost savings and improvements to the business, directly impacting our profitability and improving quality and delivery for our customers.

This will be a dynamic and challenging role where no two days are the same. You will be accountable for the technical delivery of Operational Excellence projects.

These projects are specifically geared towards resolving our long term pain points in production through Engineering know-how, focusing on root cause analysis, daily problem solving and taking a data-driven approach to recognising and fixing issues.


You will be responsible for leading resources and utilising expertise from the Engineering Functional teams to deliver real world cost, time and quality improvements to the production process.

You will report directly to the Site Engineering Lead and be a part of a large team of skilled resource, Technical and Functional leaders and Project Engineers.

You will interface daily with your stakeholders in Quality, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Production Planning and Facilities, as well as Value Stream Management.


This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a flexible environment and is comfortable taking a technical lead on topics which demand a willingness to drive down into the detail.

You will be able to manage changing priorities and be able to use sound engineering judgment where information may be missing.

You will be able to empower a small team of enthusiastic, energetic engineers to focus on the key topics.

And you will be able to communicate out the technical status to a wide range of audiences in a clear and concise manner, giving confidence to all major stakeholders.


What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for all Engineeringlead Operational Excellence projects, focused on improving the cost, time and quality in our production process.
  • Be the Engineering focal point for all Value Stream stakeholders in all discussions around production improvements and Operational Excellence delivery.
  • Develop strong and trusting relationships, within the Engineering team, the Value Stream and around the organisation, to ensure our Value Stream success is at the heart of everything we do
  • Work with the Site Lead and Functional Leads to ensure that the right resource is available
  • Support the Site Lead and Value Stream Engineering Lead with technical reviews on the topic
  • Liaison with the Inservice team discussing enquiries & investigations received from customers on inservice product.
  • Be an active contributor to transformation initiatives, bringing in Engineering expertise to support our internal customers.
  • Contribute to the Engineering culture within Wolverhampton, focusing on ways of working, inclusivity, wellbeing and engagement. Champion AS cultural pillars of Diversity & Inclusion, Collaboration, Curiosity, Innovation, Bold and Customer First.
  • Seek opportunities for commonality across the team, through best practice, sharing resources and workload, and promoting collaboration and intrasite teamworking.
  • Ensure CMS & process adherence, including understanding of International Trade Compliance (ITC) and be able to follow restrictions/controls put in place
  • Some level of travel (e.g. to visit Suppliers) will be required from time to time.

Essential skills:


  • You should be qualified to at least Degree level in engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline, or have the equivalent training and experience.
