This is an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical site management team based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. Applicants must be Registered Nurses with extensive and current experience in an acute hospital setting.

They must be patient centred, have up to date clinical skills and an understanding of current acute hospital performance indicators.


You will be based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre but will liaise closely with the teams at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the rest of the OUHFT including the Chief Operating Officer, on-call duty manager and all senior care group and divisional leads.


You will need to possess excellent communication skills as you will be expected to discuss and support patient pathways across the Trust, provide clinical expertise and leadership and coordinate the operational function for the whole NOC site over a 24 hour period.

As well as supporting care groups with bed capacity you will also provide support in ensuring safe staffing is achieved, respond to emergency calls, fire alarms and many other site issues.


This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking to broaden your operational and leadership skills and you will need to be versatile and adaptable and be able to work as part of a team and independently.

There will be a requirement to work long days, night shifts and weekends.


To provide and maintain high quality clinical care for patients, providing specialist advice, support and expertise to ward teams as required, especially out of hours.

This will include participation in the Trust Emergency Response Team to cardiac arrest and other
emergencies.


Provide professional, advanced clinical support to junior doctors, nursing staff and members of the multi-disciplinary team working within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across all sites.

To coordinate the clinical handover process as per Trust guidance and operational
protocol.


To effectively manage the Trust's bed capacity over a 24-hour period, ensuring all emergency and elective admission processes meet both related national targets, local and national patient pathways and quality standards.

To liaise with clinical services and senior clinicians to expedite the admissions and discharge of patients, in accordance with Trust Policy

To coordinate the transfer and appropriate placement of patients from ED, EAU, wards, ITU, clinics and other Trusts ensuring that targets are met.

To co-ordinate the placement of elective surgical admissions.


To make decisions on issues relating to the management of the site out of hours, informing the duty manager when deemed necessary.

To be the focal point on site for all security issues for the period of duty.
To act as the senior contact person on site for major incidents in line with the agreed
policy.
