An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Macmillan Cancer Information Centre within the Cancer Services Division of the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.


The Macmillan Information and Support Assistant will be based in the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre to provide personalised information and support about cancer services, to enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life.

A background in cancer services would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills and an ability to prioritise workload whilst working as part of a team are essential. It is also essential to have basic IT skills.

The post holder will be based "front-of-house" in the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre to triage enquiries and provide personalised information.

They will support the provision of a high quality service to service users including patients, carers, general public, staff, and health care professionals about cancer services to enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for their cancer and their life.

They will also deputise for the Information Manager as required, supervising and guiding volunteers,


The post-holder will support the delivery of the National Cancer Strategy by coordinating and attending specific events to raise awareness of early diagnosis / health prevention, to be a local "cancer champion".

They will also take an active role in contributing towards the development and implementation of cancer survivorship initiatives enabling people affected by cancer to become self-supportive i.e.

coordinating trust wide health and well-being events.
