REED Accountancy in Teesside are looking for a skilled and experienced Accountant to join a local organisation which takes great care of its employees, offering home working, flexible working hours and a competitive salary.


As an Accountant you will support the delivery of both Financial and Management Accounting Services, the timely delivery of statutory accounts and the production and monitoring of Medium-Term Financial Plans.


You will use costing and other analytical techniques to assess capital and revenue expenditure plans to ensure the best use of resources.

Working closely with the Senior Accountants, you will contribute to high quality financial governance and compliance. You will Deputise for the Senior Accountants when required.

  • Line management of both Senior Accounting Technicians and/or Accounting Technicians including recruitment, selection and performance management.
  • Support the production and monitoring of Medium-Term Financial Plans responsible for budgeting and forecasting service provision and undertaking financial analysis and reporting as required. Preliminary financial analysis of capital and revenue programmesincluding whole life costing of projects.
  • Undertake appropriate monthly budget monitoring to prepare financial management information that is responsive to the needs of clients and supports delivery of organisational objectives.
  • Assist in the production of service delivery plans and associated business cases, coordinating the delivery of financial analysis and costing information.
  • Provide financial advice to Budget Holders and business planning providing information with interpretation, for example, cost modelling and trend analysis.
  • Deliver training to Budget Holders to enable effective budget management and use of resources.
  • Provision of information and guidance on financial regulations and instructions, the Devolved Resource Manual (DRM) and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure the timely completion of control account reconciliation.
  • Support on the closure of accounts and production of the statutory accounts
  • Oversee the financial accounting processes in relation to Capital, Treasury Management, Cashflow Forecasting, Pension Fund and IAS19 and VAT.
  • Support on Financial systems development and maintenance providing system administration support as required to ensure continuous systems improvements.
  • Ensure effective day to day management of the Transaction Processing team, providing data input and report processing, and ensuring activity is carried out in compliance with current legislation, regulations, and procedures.


To succeed in this role, you will hold or be actively studying for a Professional Accountancy Qualification or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience and expertise.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyse financial information
Good working knowledge of statutory and management accounting requirements alongside experience of reconciling financial reporting against operational activity.
