To start in September 2023 or January 2024 we are seeking an exceptional Head of German to provide strong academic leadership and vision for this popular language option.


The role:


The Head of German will empower others to deliver an excellent education for our pupils, ensuring the highest possible standards in work and conduct are achieved across the department.

As with all our teaching staff, your involvement in the pastoral and co-curricular lives of the school will help you develop outside the constraints of the Department.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the education of pupils is upheld as a priority and that the highest possible standards in work and conduct are achieved throughout the department.

You will be dynamic and committed as a classroom teacher and will contribute your own particular strengths and skills to the future development of the Department, and participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole.

The department:


The large Modern Foreign Languages Faculty at Oundle, comprising over twenty staff teaching seven languages, even has its own bespoke building.

The Adamson Centre is a dedicated space for language teaching, and includes sixteen classrooms, two specialist training classrooms, six individual 'pods' for language assistants, and a multi-purpose space with cinema screen, projector, and a wide-lens webinar facility where talks from guest speakers, film nights, and other events are regularly held.

In addition, The Department runs a number of events each academic year including an Oktoberfest celebration, and international trips to Berlin, Hamburg and Tuebingen.


The town:

Oundle is a historic market town in Northamptonshire, famous for its beautiful Georgian streets and impressive limestone buildings.

The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School's Stahl theatre.

The town has a range of independent shops, coffee houses, pubs and eateries.

Encircled by the river Nene, the town is also blessed to be surrounded by beautiful countryside with many picturesque villages nearby.
