Data Management Associate to join our Data Management team within our Asset Management function


Context


To support the Data Management Manager to lead, shape and grow the data capability within the Asset Management COO function.

The goal of the Data Management team is to embed 'data as an asset' within the culture of the function in order to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet the overall Asset Management needs and thereby enabling Asset management to become truly a data driven function.


The role will focus on the design, implementation and operation of a best in class data management capability, covering all aspects including processes, systems and validations across the Asset Management function.

The role will support the business in leveraging data securing internal / external stakeholder support to execute and deploy the strategy.


This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in data and to be part of a new and growing capability in the highly specialised area of Asset Management within the Phoenix Group.


Key Responsibilities
Data Management

  • Assist the manager in driving the adoption of data management processes, validation, metrics, tooling and solutions across Asset Management.
  • Establish and document the business requirements for automating data management processes in Asset Management strategic platforms.
  • Drive the adoption of reporting, measurement and continuous improvement in data management.
  • Static Data Management across core Asset Management platforms including Portfolio, Private Credit and Security Master
  • Data creation/maintenance for nonbusiness owned data e.g., Index Name Listing and business owned data e.g., CIC Code ref data, PD credit spreads
  • Data Scrubbing (historic data in the platform when prioritised) e.g., Standardise asset classifications
  • Acting as a platform steward providing functional support and acting as liaison between business and technical teams
  • Operations advisory for Change Projects / Business Activities e.g. Product setup by the business
  • Support business with data queries e.g., Actuarial quarter end enquiries
  • Support Business / IT on Reporting i.e., managing reporting datasets, Quick sight dashboard
  • Reporting and governance
  • Identifies new business opportunities pertaining to the use of investment data (e.g. eliminating redundancy and streamlining services) and challenges the status quo.
Data Quality

  • Identify data quality gaps in Investment Data, and partner with owners, operations teams and
- technology to mitigate risk

  • Identifies Data Quality issues for escalation and tracking to Data Governance.
Tools and Technology

  • Contributes to the evolution and integration of data management toolsets.
  • Works with delivery leads to design and implement data management capabilities to achieve solution and service improvements
General

  • Contributes to the Data Strategy of the organisation, including identification and evolution of a data management strategy and the development of the Data Operating Model and Roadmap.
  • Contributes to the Asset Management integration supporting Data Architecture, Data Strategy, Data Tooling and data maturity assessments across Asset Management.
Internal Relationships

  • Chief Operating Officer for Asset Management
  • Head of Asset Management Data Management
  • Data Leaders and their teams in the Phoenix Group
  • Key stakeholders of other functions (e.g. IT, Risk Management, Internal Audit etc)
  • Data Owners and Data Stewards across the Business and entities

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within professional field

Skills:


  • Experience within a Financial Services organisation, preferably Asset Management
  • Experience in a data discipline particularly Data Management & Data Quality
  • Ability to lead and drive initiatives delivered by virtual and crossfunctional teams
  • Ability to identify and differentiate between tactical and strategic solutions
