We are looking to recruit a dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic individual to work as a Communications and Marketing Lead at Bangor University Students' Union (Undeb Bangor) on a full-time, permanent basis.


Joining the organisation at a very exciting time of digital and online engagement the post holder will be responsible for leading and developing the Communications and Marketing department within the Students' Union.

The main focus is to ensure effective communication with diverse members and stakeholders and develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy.

The post holder will oversee digital platforms, raise the profile of the Students' Union, and contribute to strategic planning and operational delivery, managing relationships with key stakeholders, providing training and support, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Line management of the student staff within the Marketing and Communications Team with an element of oversight of the activities undertaken by the Website and Digital Content Developer.


Purpose of the Role:


The post holder will ensure the Students' Union communicates effectively with students and other key stakeholders, coordinate and lead our communications, marketing and design work, support campaign and project activity, and support to identify sponsorship opportunities, and delivering a wide range of creative marketing and PR campaigns.

Strategy that embeds a culture of continuous and professional communications throughout all areas of Union life and operation, working closely with key stakeholders across the University


Overview:

  • To support the Finance and Operations Manager to lead and oversee the development of Communications and Marketing within the Students' Union in accordance with the Union's strategic goals.
  • To ensure that the Students' Union is communicating effectively with all aspects of its diverse membership and key stakeholders in a clear and coherent manner.
  • To support the Finance and Operations Manager in the ongoing departmental strategic planning.
  • To lead and advise on the development and implementation of a Union wide Communications Strategy that embeds a culture of continuous and professional communications throughout all areas of Union life and operation, working closely with key stakeholders across the University.
  • To lead on developing Students' Union communication tools to meet the needs of its everchanging membership and coordinate our marketing and design work to support campaign and project activity.
  • To support the Website and Digital Content Coordinator on the development of the Union online membership system and website and all digital platforms in line with marketing strategy.
  • To support in the realisation of Sabbaticalled ideas and projects through targeted communication and work with them to raise the profile of their work.
  • Be responsible for raising the positive profile of The Students' Union to the University, community, media and other stakeholders.
  • To work with the Finance and Operations Manager and Students' Union Director to identify opportunities for sponsorship and media sales.
  • To lead the development and delivery of training for staff and Officers in all areas of media and communications.
  • To be an active member of the Students' Union's Staff Team; and to contribute to the realisation of all areas of the Union's Strategic Priorities.

The Communications and Marketing Lead is responsible for:
Management and Strategy

  • To support the Finance and Operations Manager to lead and oversee the development of Communications and Marketing within the Students' Union in accordance with the Union's strategic goals.
  • To lead and advise on the development and implementation of a Union wide Communications Strategy that embeds a culture of continuous and professional communications throughout all areas of Union life and operation, working closely with key stakeholders across the University.
  • Support the development and delivery of the annual operational plan for your area of responsibility and closely monitor and report on progress, targets, and key performance indicators.
  • To line manage the Student Staff within the Communications and Marketing team ensuring that all responsibilities are carried out in line with the Union Strategy.
  • Ensure the effective use of research and evidence to inform the development of our marketing and communications.
