South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Band 2 Generic Therapy Assistant to join the Acute Therapy Team at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

This role covers both front of house and medical wards.


This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone either taking their first step into a Band 2 role or someone who is already established.

The team is friendly and welcoming and warmly supports colleagues.

Based at the Friarage, Northallerton, the role brings a number of exciting factors together. These include excellent MDT working across all health and social care services coupled with a beautiful location.

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by a Therapist.

Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is good support throughout the integrated Therapy service to help you develop.


The post holder will assist in the provision and delivery of a high standard of health and social care for patients on the acute medical wards, ensuring their own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems and work within the policies and guidelines as laid down by the Trust.

You will take responsibility for your own learning, development and performance, including participation in clinical supervision.


The post holder will work alongside the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists on the acute medical wards and front of house at The Friarage Hospital.

The aim of the role is to prevent avoidable re-admissions, and facilitate safe discharges. Therapy Assistants will have an essential role within this multidisciplinary team, enabling discharge and optimize their independence.


The therapy assistant will carry out interventions with patients which are planned by the qualified therapists such as practicing transfers, mobility, personal care activities and kitchen activitiesto prepare patients for discharge.


They will support therapists on community visits to assess patients and issue equipment; they will also assist with any administrative tasks as requested by therapy team.
