About us

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for a motivated individual to join the Passenger Transpotrt team as a Transport Officer.

The role will primarily involve working as part of a small team who organise and manage the Council's Community Transport Scheme - Greenlinks and assist in the operation of other Community Transport Schemes in the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities.

Pay Details:
Grade 7 SCP £30,296 - £33,945 p.a.

Hours of Work /
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Main Place of Work:
The Alps Depot, Wenvoe, CF5 6AA/Home working

Temporary Reason:
Post cover until 31st March 2025

Description:


The Individual will ensure the smooth running of the community transport service, which will include managing the maintenance of the fleet of community transport vehicles, recruitment and training of volunteers, liaising and supporting other local Community Transport Operators within the Vale of Glamorgan area, maintaining up to date budget monitoring and general administrative tasks as required.


About you

You will need:

  • Experience of working within a passenger transport environment.
  • Experience of working with partners within the third sector.
  • Experience of dealing with budgets and budget monitoring
  • Good knowledge of transport legislation including Vale of Glamorgan policies, Welsh Government legislation and Community Transport Association guidelines.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the Vale of Glamorgan and neighbouring authorities.
  • Able to deal with the task in hand, set goals and prioritise where necessary to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Ability to delegate tasks as necessary and give clear instruction.
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing with stakeholders.
  • Ability to carry out presentations to internal or external bodies.
  • IT literate and able to use Microsoft packages to a good standard.
  • A team player who is motivated to achieve optimum goals within allocated budgets.
  • An ability to work flexibly and endeavour to ensure high standards of professionalism is maintained at all times.
  • Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale of Glamorgan or between locations as appropriate
