Description

Bilston, Midlothian (with some travel to Stockbridge)

VARIOUS HOURS (TYPICALLY 7-9 HOURS A DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK)

Let us introduce you to Hazel:
Hazel is in her 20s and is a young woman with autism and a learning disability. Hazel is bright, inquisitive, and enjoys new experiences. She faces challenges with curiosity and determination, and has a quirky sense of humour. She is a big fan of the outdoors, and loves an adventure. She enjoys languages, cooking, swimming and going out to do activities with her support workers. Once you establish a bond with Hazel, her world becomes full of possibilities for growth and development.

Her days can involve day trips by bus or train, swimming and gym classes, baking and card games, or simple household chores and activities.

Like everyone else, Hazel has both good and bad days.

She has some complexities that can make her life quite difficult, but a compassionate, empathetic person can turn that whole day around.

Hazel has limited speech due to her learning disability, but her subtle cues showcase her ability to express herself and her incredibly intuitive communication style.

Hazel's team is small but filled with passionate individuals.

Her family is deeply integrated within her support, and thus the support worker will need to be able to work on their own initiative whilst at the same time being respectful of Hazel and her parents' wishes.

Everyone counts within Hazel's team, and each person is committed to enriching her life to the fullest. Could you make a difference to Hazel's life?

This role is ideal for someone who is active and has a good sense of humour. Hazel loves dogs and would respond well to someone who shared this passion. Due to her autism and learning disability, you must be adaptable to Hazel's needs whilst remaining calm and positive.

You will be working indepentently in this role whilst keeping records up to date and ensuring you work collaboratively with the rest of Hazel's team.
