About the Role:


The Change Management Office was created in late 2021 to support the Institute to create an organisation and culture able to effectively flex and grow with the changing needs of science, our strategy and the world around us.


To support this vision, a new role has been created to create an advisory service supporting the delivery of best practice for all projects across the organisation through collaboration with PMOs and key delivery teams, Centre of Excellence, MI reporting & analytics & supporting CMO in their mission to deliver Change Readiness across the organisation.


Best practice + Reporting and analytics:

You will achieve this through working with all facets of the Institute including two existing PMOs and multiple pockets of project managers and delivery leads to facilitate a common understanding of initiatives (change, projects and strategic shifts) and approach to GDPR privacy by design and data retention.

This will require complex conversations, creation of new ways of working and procuring and implementing an organisation-wide tool which will require senior support.

This will require deep analysis of needs and creating a taxonomy which straddles multiple types of projects and needs where there is currently no consistency.

This will support creating consistent reporting and connected transparent governance to be used by senior leaders.


Centre of excellence:


You will help surface available methodologies or crowd-source new approaches where needed to raise the bar of 40+ project roles throughout the Institute.

Working with multiple stakeholders at all levels, you will create shared knowledge and best practices within communities as Centres of Excellence - acting as a catalyst for improvement and collaboration.


Supporting the wider CMO:


As well as publishing key tools, updates and helping roll out engagement plans, this role will embed change management thinking where possible and assess the portfolio to look for risks and opportunities as well as maintaining the view to challenge gaps and delays.


As the Change Management Office is a relatively new team, this role will help co-create the process and supporting tools and roll out key pieces of the process.


We are looking for someone with the following competencies:

  • Communication: Manages meetings effectively. Puts the right people in the room. Is clear and concise in both verbal and written communication. Trusted to present decisions to leaders up to 3 tiers above level. Has the ability to communicate across an increasing diversity of areas (e.g., legal, regulatory, finance, faculty, trainees etc.)
  • Technical: Drives discussions where necessary to ensure simplification and efficiencies in teams to unblock innovation and/ or speed of delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Has a strong improvement mindset and uses coaching to develop in others.
  • Impact: Manages complex projects to meet organisation and group goals. Improves team efficiency.

Skills

  • Project/Program Management Experience in a multidisciplinary context or a core role in a PMO/Agile PMO
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Successful track record of leading tangible improvements, or transformation programmes/projects
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive, pragmatic, selfdriven, ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, planning skills, critical thinking, ambiguity tolerance, creativity and strong emotional intelligence.
  • Self starter and contributes to project documentation and ongoing improvements
  • Ability to identify process gaps, provide solutions and establishes best practices, processes and documentation
  • Good financial knowledge

Other Information

Salary range:
£51,000 to £62,000
