We are looking to recruit a Head of Domestic Services to be a champion for standards and quality and a leader and role model for staff whose daily work is crucial for the smooth running of the schools.

Leading an expanding team of housekeeping staff, this is a hands-on role that requires excellent communication and planning to meet the needs of the business which operates year round across multiple sites.

Liaising with House Staff, the academic teams and the commercial teams across the sites and to be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the site.


RESPONSIBILITIES - Planning, allocation, and monitoring of all cleaning/laundry duties, ensuring efficient allocation of staff to cover all areas, with contingency plans to cover staff absences.


  • Quality control of the cleaning performed across all areas of the Schools to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Lead and line manage the Housekeeping Teams including attendance, appraisal, training, staffing levels and recruitment.
  • Lead the appropriate induction of new staff as well training requirements for existing staff.
  • Control and oversee the housekeeping budgets, to include ordering of stock to ensure adequate cleaning and PPE supplies, including checking, and authorising all invoices.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety requirements of the Housekeeping Team are planned and implemented, including policies, risk assessments and COSHH guidelines and keeping under constant review and monitoring.
  • Working with the School's Compliance Officers to ensure that the housekeeping departments are compliant with all relevant Health and Safety regulations as well as best practice and latest guidance.
  • Working 'hands on' alongside the teams as required.
  • Implementing, monitoring, and managing departmental service contracts (feminine hygiene, window cleaning, recycling, waste, equipment).
  • Ensuring that the internal areas are fit for purpose, clean, safe, and functional for the benefit of pupils and staff across the sites.
  • Manage the day to day relationship with the outsourced catering provider ensuring they are meeting the needs of the school and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Working alongside the Operations Manager, coordinate support required from both housekeeping and catering departments for events throughout the year.
  • Identifying and reporting faults and required repairs to equipment to the Head of Maintenance following required procedures.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Full time, year-round, 5 days out of 7 to meet the requirements of the schools. Salary dependent upon experience. This role is multiple sites but the base site will be Westonbirt School.

From £27,000.00 per year
