A small and dynamic primary school in St. Osyth is looking for an energetic and higher level teaching assistant. They help their children learn and progress well academically, creatively, physically, socially, and spiritually.

Putting their vision into practice, they have high standards and high expectations for learning, achievement, and behaviour for each pupil.


As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the teacher and helping pupils with their daily learning activities.

An HLTA is generally used to cover classes, free up teachers for meetings or administration time, and also cover for teachers in their absence.

The role does not involve any planning, but the person must feel comfortable delivering material to a class and being solely responsible for that class for a whole day at a time if necessary.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT:


  • Managing behaviour and supporting the class teacher
  • Working with small groups and 1:
  • Using creativity and innovation to improve all children's learning experiences
  • Safeguarding children
  • Communicating with parents and carers about pupil's progress
  • Teach lessons in the teacher's absence.
  • Cover classes, and help teachers with their meetings and administrative duties.

REQUIREMENTS FROM THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • An Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get a new one.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available with this role).
  • Levels 5 Childcare qualification or equivalent preferred.
  • Two most recent professional references. (This is essential)
  • Adapt to the demands of the students in a professional and courteous manner.
