An exciting opportunity to work at a rapidly expanding Special School.

We are seeking to appoint BG8 Learning Support Assistants at our fantastic special school. We currently have vacancies in our Nexus Provision.

The Nexus provides bespoke educational programmes and positive behaviour support for children and young people with severe learning difficulties and associated challenging behaviours.

The roles are demanding and challenging, but very rewarding.

You will be required to use a reflective approach to learners, their learning and needs and be able to work creatively and proactively.

Emotional resilience and an ability to engage learners is a must. Experience of working with children who demonstrate challenging behaviour is also desirable.


Briarwood has a dedicated team of staff, governors and parents/carers who are proud to support 160 children and young people aged 3 to 19 years and are passionate about their progress, happiness and care.

The posts are 32.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.45pm.

Term time only, working 39 weeks (including 5 inset days), 13 weeks school holidays of which 6.6 weeks paid as annual leave.

No entitlement to annual leave during term time. Salary £24,948 to £26,845per annum (Pro Rata) dependent on Bristol City Council or Local Government continuous service.
