An exciting dual role as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant and administrative support. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Speech Therapy Assistant.

You would be a vital member of the acute adult Speech and Language service.

Following competency based training you would work across the wards at Leighton hospital to provide communication therapy and supporting the team with administrative tasks.

The Operational Service Assistant / Speech and Language Therapy Assistant will provide comprehensive, high quality, confidential administrative support to the speech and language therapy team including managing calls, referrals appointments and discharges for the clinical staff.

They will also be trained to provide therapy to patients, under supervision, and complete clinical administrative tasks. They will be expected to organise their own workload whilst being supported by the speech and language therapists, ensuring that an efficient service is provided It is essential that the post holder is able to exercise initiative suitable to the role, managing their time effectively

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the acute speech and language therapy service including managing calls, referrals, patient registration, appointment management, letters/reports and supporting the clinical staff to respond to the health needs of the local population


To exercise own judgement based, on acquired knowledge and experience, as to when to deal with queries personally and when to involve other team members and with what degree of urgency.

To be conversant with all required electronic systems for correspondence and patient care
To build and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, CCICP staff and externally to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the service to patients and support signposting where appropriate of queries and referrals
Clinical
To assist in the treatment of patients under the guidance of a qualified clinician.
To carry out specified screens, interventions and programmes as planned and discussed with a qualified clinician. To monitor and report progress of patients during the implementation of planned interventions and programmes.

To ensure accurate, up-to-date clinical records are kept, ensuring their security and confidentiality at all times
