Job summary:
This post will lead the IPA Corporate Function team, who facilitate the smooth running of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority in delivering its strategic objectives.
The post-holder will act as an informed advisor to the CEO, providing clear and rapid analysis of key issues and strategies.
You will manage and act as a point of contact for senior stakeholders, and the IPA Senior Leadership Team on behalf of the CEO.
You will oversee the team which leads on IPA's people strategy, in order to make the organisation more expert and more focused.
This includes developing an L&D strategy, supporting recruitment, on-boarding and business continuity.This is as well as the IPA Communications Team which is responsible for setting the direction of all CEO communications, supporting IPA's internal communications, coordinating internal and external events and messages to the project delivery professionals across government.
You will also be responsible for the Executive Support Team which is pooled to ensure flexible resource allocation to meet the priorities of the organisation, share best practice and encourage learning and development.
The team will work across a range of tasks to support the teams to which they are allocated and will manage senior leaders' diaries.
Who are we looking for?
The role holder will need to develop and retain high-level strategic understanding of the diverse and complex functions of the IPA providing the CEO with high quality insightful briefings.
The role will involve management of the Private Office Group ensuring the corporate functions of the IPA operate efficiently and effectively.

Key responsibilities:
- Providing high quality, efficient and effective Private Secretary service to the CEO and management of the Corporate Function team.
- Horizon scanning, maintaining a strategic overview of issues and proactively identifying problems in order to resolve them.
- Assimilating information to produce high quality incisive briefings; submissions and/or presentations on all the areas of IPA's diverse portfolio of work. Challenging where appropriate to ensure submissions are reflective of the IPA vision.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with IPA senior leadership team and wider IPA team.
- Leading the Executive Support team to provide high quality support to the IPA Senior Leadership Team and Deputy Directors.
- Leading the Business Management team to deliver a high quality service for the IPA, including delivering internal business planning, strategy implementation and risk management for the organisation.
Person specification:
Person Specification with experience of:
- Experience of a similar role in the Civil Service or Private Sector
- Confidently presenting key issues clearly to a variety of audiences on a regular basis. This includes leading all staff meetings, presenting to senior officials and senior stakeholders outside of the organisation.
- Strategy development and business planning preferably within a government department or executive agency.
- Drafting and developing corporate documentation (business plans, strategy documentation).
- Communicating orally and in written form with senior leaders.
- Using strategic insight to anticipate and prepare for rapidly changing requirements ensuring a high quality and responsive service.
- Line management and developing staff.
