Job summary:

The Civil Service delivers public services and supports the government of the day to develop and implement its policies.

Much of this work happens in our individual Departments (of which there are over 40), but we also have 12 cross-Government functions.

This role is based in Civil Service HR, which is a cross government HR function for all Civil Service departments, and is based in the Cabinet Office.

    _Higher Executive Officer (HEO)__ role. For those who aren't currently working in the Civil Service, a HEO role works within a supportive team structure, under the direction of relevant team leaders. HEOs can hold responsibility for specialised pieces of work within a programme or project._


Within Civil Service HR, the Senior Talent and Resourcing team is a small HR business partnering team (currently there are 12 of us).


We have three key priorities:

  • To deliver excellent HR policies and practice in support of Permanent Secretaries (the most senior civil servants in each Department), ensuring that the Civil Service has the highest calibre of senior leaders and that they can perform at their best. We own and deliver the end to end recruitment process for these senior roles, and deliver all performance management for Permanent Secretaries, plus pay and exits.
  • To distil the wider lessons for the Civil Service from the cases we manage and the challenges faced by our senior leaders, and to use those to influence and deliver wider reform and continuous improvement.

Job description:

The Resourcing Project Lead will contribute to delivering end to end senior recruitment campaigns within government.

Working closely with two Recruitment Partners, the role will provide fundamental support at all stages of DG campaigns assisting with multiple processes of the campaigns.

Another key aspect to this role will be leading on projects to deliver continuous improvement to the policies and practices within the team and Civil Service HR.

This will give you an opportunity to lead on the design and implementations of the projects with support from the team around you.


This role will require you to structure your own time to meet targets and work well in a busy team environment.

You will need to be a strong communicator who is able to manage a variety of stakeholders and be comfortable speaking to senior people.

The role will require passion about providing an outstanding level of service to customers and improving our processes to achieve this.


Person specification:


  • Deliver an outstanding, customer focused recruitment service by supporting end to end Director General recruitment campaigns.
  • Make effective use of Applicant Tracking Software and maintain compliance with Civil Service Recruitment Principles by supporting hiring managers on best practice and ensuring accurate record keeping in preparation for audit.
  • Work collaboratively across the Senior Talent and Resourcing Team supporting individual Recruitment Projects and taking ownership of assigned tasks and workstreams.
Desirable

  • Interest or experience in a fastpaced Resourcing or HR related role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Friendly, confident, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills confident in using Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.) as well as Google software
  • The ability to work and deliver to set timescales and deadlines.
