Parkside Ward Clerk - WX Saturday 7am - 2pm


You will join our private unit at Wexham Park Hospital, where you will become a highly valued member of the wider Parkside team.


We offer a calm and friendly environment that will see you welcoming our patients, relatives and all that walk through our doors with an excellent level of customer service.

As an integral member of Parkside you will be required to provide administrative support to the nursing staff and provide a wide range of duties ensuring an efficient service to the ward at all times


You will:

  • Answer calls in a polite manner, ensuring all relevant messages are relayed to the appropriate team.
  • Transfer calls when required.
  • Assist Nurses in taking patients to other departments.
  • Greet all visitors to the ward in a helpful and polite manner.
  • Direct visitors to the correct team.
  • Assist with any enquiries where possible.
  • Maintain accurate admission and discharge information on EPIC
  • Update admission/discharge spreadsheet.
  • Work closely with Nurse in Charge to accommodate beds for new admission and relay information appropriately.
  • Assist with patients refreshments if required.
  • Log booking forms in the nurses' diary.
  • Ensure handover sheet is up to date liaising with nurses where appropriate.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is scanned for 'costings'.
  • Support nursing and medical staff.
  • Photocopying/scanning as requested.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
  • Keep nurse base and seating area clean and tidy.
  • Ensure papers and magazines are kept tidy.
  • Report any unsafe practices promptly to Matron/Senior Nurse/Nurse in Charge.
  • Undertake any other tasks commensurate with your grade.

  • Ensure that all patients, visitors and staff are treated in a courteous, professional and caring manner and receive prompt assistance when required.
  • Promote equality for all individuals by taking into consideration their cultural and religious beliefs, customs and values. To adhere to hospital policy in relation to patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Be aware of their responsibilities under the 1974 Health & Safety at Work Act. Care should be taken in all aspects of work to ensure that these and other safety regulations, e.g. COSHH and Manual Handling Policy are adhered to.
  • Report all accidents and/or incidents occur to patients, visitors, staff or oneself according to hospital policy.
  • Report any suspicious circumstances/individuals/packages immediately to Unit Manager or her deputy.
  • Be aware of procedures to be followed in the case of Fire, cardiac Arrest and any other emergencies.
  • Adhere to hospital policy and not become involved in any financial matters with or on behalf of a patient or relative, e.g. witnessing a will.
  • As an important member of the team, the post holder should attend and participate in any meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Be aware of own levels of competence and at no time attempt tasks above and beyond their ability or training.
