Why we want you:

This role is an opportunity to volunteer within a small and supportive team who are working to provide relief and support to people seeking asylum in Greater Manchester.

The role will focus on re-starting our popular Football Project for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Football Project is a key part of our wellbeing offer and culminates in the team's participation in the yearly Refugee World Cup in June.

You will work with the team to find a suitable venue, arrange the practical aspects of sessions and advertise the project.

This role would suit someone who has excellent organisational skills and a passion for football. Reference To be provided to the Volunteering & Youth team.

Location British Red Cross 10 Brindley Road, Cornbrook M16 9HQ Department Refugee Support Reporting to GMRS Project Coordinator / GMRS Service Manager Hours This placement will last a maximum of 12 week volunteering up to 2 days each week.

The volunteering hours are negotiable to balance your needs and what can be achieved in the role.- Tasks: Researching and compiling venue options for weekly football training sessions

  • Costing and arranging practical items such as boots and kits
  • Working with sessional coaches to arrange training sessions
  • Liaising with partners across the refugee support sector to advertise the project
  • Skills: A good team player
  • Interested in working to support people who have sought asylum
  • Organised and able to manage time effectively
