Our CTC Physiology Department are seeking a Patient Pathway Officer to join their warm, friendly and supportive team to support the deliverary of an efficient and effective appointment scheduling service to the Cardiac Physiology team, keeping up-to-date and accurate computer recorded information on the status of patients.


You will support the Specialty Patient Pathway Co-ordinator, clinical teams, and other divisional managers in ensuring the speciality are able to deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g.

6 week diagnostic wait time.


We are looking for excellent communicators, who are able to demonstrate and promote high levels of customer care and who ideally have experience in an appointments role, preferably in cardiology.


Your main duty as our Patient Pathway Officer is to be responsible for receiving test requests and allocating appointments for Cardiac Physiology led out-patient and inpatient diagnostic tests and clinic attendances and to courteously and efficiently receive telephone enquiries from patients and carers in relation to appointments ensuring that accurate records are maintained.


Your role will involve interpreting the clinical information from test requests according to protocol and taking responsibility for booking appropriate appointments, communicating rejection of inappropriate requests to the requesting Consultant according to published guidance and to monitor demand and wait times, identify potential breaches and escalate to Cardiac Physiology service leads and / or Specialty Patient Pathway Co-ordinator.

Experience in using the following hospital administration systems is preferred but training can be given

  • CVIS
  • EPR
  • Thames Ambulance Transport system
  • EMR
