Full Time /37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 18 Months


Play a key role in supporting and contributing to the growth of the city's tourism and visitor economy by delivering a range of exciting and original projects outlined in the Leicester Tourism Action Plan.


City Centre Management has an exciting opportunity to work alongside the City Centre Director to deliver innovative city tourism projects to support the local visitor economy.

As a key contact for city tourism, you will develop and maintain positive relationships with city tourism businesses to secure their support for tourism projects and programmes.


The City Centre Director works with a range of partners, businesses and public services to enhance the management and performance of Leicester City Centre to the benefit of residents, visitors and businesses.

The City Centre is responsible for tourism in the city and works closely with the Strategic Tourism Manager and Place Marketing colleagues to deliver the Leicester Tourism Action Plan.


What you will be doing


You'll coordinate and deliver tourism and visitor economy projects and plans by working closely with Council tourism services and external tourism and visitor economy business to secure engagement and support for activities to raise the profile of Leicester as a tourism destination.

You'll coordinate the recruitment, selection, training and deployment of volunteer Tourism Ambassadors appointed to support projects and events to grow the Visiting Family and Relatives (VFR) target market.

Presenting to a variety of audiences and facilitating the smooth running of regular city tourism forums, hosting familiarisation and journalist visits, delegations form part of promotional activities.

You will support at key leisure exhibitions and other promotional events in Leicester and other parts of the UK.


What you will need
Experience of working in the tourism and hospitality sector and supporting projects is key. You will need project management and small budget control experience to ensure successful delivery of projects.

Using excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will provide clear and concise timely information to external stakeholders and Council tourism colleagues and be comfortable presenting to audiences of different sizes.

You will have experience and knowledge of interpreting data to compile, analyse and distribute reports, statistics and information.


You will have a track record of successfully building and retaining business relationships and have persuasive and negotiating skills to secured desired outcomes.

Previous experience in recruiting, supporting and developing volunteers, organising events and planning activities for others are important skills for this role.
