Role Overview:


Specific work elements of the job include: Advising the best production methods, tooling, holding devices and proving/minor editing of CNC programs alongside Production Engineering.


The post holder will be expected to work individually as well as part of the team to achieve their ambitions and the ambitions of IMI Thompson Valves
:


Shift Pattern - Double Days - 2 Weeks Early's and then 2 Weeks Lates.**
Key Responsibilities:Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure that all risk and COSHH assessments are in place and up to date and that employees are informed of, and understand, those which are relevant to their area of responsibility.
  • Setup CNC to provided setup sheets, make amendments where required and feedback any changes to Production Engineering
  • Prove the manufacturing method and assist in optimising for production.
  • Read engineering drawings.
  • Select the correct tooling and holding devices for manufacture.
  • Exercise best practice setups with operators
  • Liaise with Production Engineers when specialised tooling is required.
  • Prove the manufacturing method and assist in optimising for production.
  • Manufacture to correct drawing specifications.
  • Carry out own 1st off inspection.
  • Complete feedback tickets of set and run times.
  • Complete OEE data sheet.
  • Maintain production targets.
  • Check and complete the necessary quality documentation.
  • Maintain Lean principles.
  • Ensure tooling and gauging are maintained to a high quality.
  • Liaise with Production Engineers when required to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Communicate issues and manufacturing improvements when they are identified.
  • Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.

Critical Competencies for Success:

-
Significant experience of setting and running CNC turning or mill/turn Machines.**:

  • Apprenticeship trained.
  • Fanuc program knowledge/familiarity.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive cando attitude and work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to perform the job functions to a high standard under normal working conditions.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Committed to work to deadlines and determined to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable desire to progress and succeed.
  • PC Literate.

Desirable Competencies for Success:


  • Experience of running and setting sliding head CNC machines
  • Fanuc programming experience
