Due to growth in service, we are recruiting a School Administrator to join our Administration team at Acorn Park School based in Norwich, Norfolk.
About the role
To deliver a professional, efficient and effective administration service to the school, and ensure that the school's safeguarding and health and safety procedures in relation to people entering and exiting the school building are implemented at all times.
- Providing secretarial support to the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teachers as required (including, but not limited to, preparing letters and communications, minutetaking, updating documents and policies, generating weekly reports, and assisting in the administrative aspects of line management duties such as completing absence records and following up on Occupational Health referrals).
- Creating and maintaining accurate pupil records.
- Supporting the school senior leaders with recruitment processes, and induction for new starters.
- Liaising with Local Authorities on matters relating to the school.
- Maintaining stocks of school uniforms and ordering new stock when required.
- Assisting the Senior School Administrator with the collection of data for the Annual School Census.
- Entering data onto various school systems as required.
- Maintaining individual contact with all parents, professionals and other parties on matters relating to school.
- Updating the school website on an ad hoc basis.
- Supporting the Senior Administrator and wider Administrative Team on ad hoc administrative tasks.
Reception cover during school holidays:
- Welcoming, directing and advising visitors, students and colleagues as required.
- Ensuring that all visitors are provided with the necessary information or referred to appropriate alternative sources for help or advice.
- Maintaining the reception diary of expected visitors, vehicle and meeting room bookings and liaising with colleagues when visitors arrive.
- Implementing and enforcing the school's signing in and out procedures and the Management of Visitors Policy.
- Managing the School's main phone line, responding to internal and external telephone calls in a prompt and professional manner, assisting callers with their requests and enquiries, and directing and filtering calls appropriately.
- Taking messages for colleagues and ensuring that they are promptly distributed.
- Keeping the School's reception area/office tidy.
- Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail and deliveries.
Essential
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and grade C or above in English
- Experience working in a busy office environment
- Experience of delivering a high quality, customer focussed service Essential
- Experience of work involving regular and accurate data inputting to strict deadlines.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office packages (word/excel/databases)
About the School
Acorn Park is a school for students aged 4-19 years, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways - Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils on our 30 Acre site in rural Norfolk.
On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
