Adecco are currently recruiting for a

Receptionist to join a prestigious university based in Canary Wharf.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Provide a customercentred, approachable and responsive meet, greet and welcome students, visitors and staff as they arrive.
  • In a professional and courteous manner direct customers to the appropriate departments or members of staff.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of information, advice and guidance to all customers on a wide variety of matters.
  • Provide a welcoming and helpful service to students that meets our professional standards.
  • Answer, screen, forward and introduce incoming phone calls, taking messages if required.
  • Provide support for planning, promotion, administration and delivery of events and societies for students.
  • Maintain the reception area keeping it tidy and presentable, including leaflets, newspapers, etc. Use the Access Control system to support and maintain building access, including administering access cards, providing special access and monitoring CCTV according to procedures.
  • Updating the systems accurately and providing regular scheduled and ad hoc reports to line manager.

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a busy reception or customer service role.
  • Experience working effectively with customers face to face, in writing and by telephone.
  • Experience of recognising and dealing with customers' queries and problems effectively.

  • A positive and attentive attitude and approach to dealing with customers and working with colleagues.
  • Excellent telephone manner and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish an effective rapport with visitors, respond appropriately and communicate information effectively.
  • Proven understanding of the importance of customer care and excellent customer service skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively deal with challenging situations.
  • IT skills including proven competence in a variety of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to follow organisational procedures, external regulations and legislation.
  • Punctuality, reliability, high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to always present and act in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Good level of secondary education or above including GCSE's (or equivalent) in English and maths.
