People Advisor II

Role Context:

As part of the Project People Team, you will provide an effective generalist People Service to the Woodsmith Project.

You will be responsible for supporting the Project Team with the management of people resources in accordance with the long-term business objectives and the project delivery schedule.


You'll be:


  • Ensuring the successful delivery of all people related activities to meet the operational requirements of the client.
  • Acting as key HR focal point, advising on all matters relating to company policy, good HR practice, terms and conditions of service and employment legislation.
  • Providing advice and support to customers and people team with regards to a broad range of ER issues and cases, including performance management, absence management maternity, paternity, adoption, flexible working, grievances, disciplinaries and capability.
  • Managing resource planning and forecasting activities within customer group and function and work closely with recruitment team or HR Manager to plan for and meet resource requirements.
  • Ensuring client and requirements are anticipated and met.
  • Championing performance management process and initiatives. Coach, influence, and encourage managers to provide clear goals and objectives, feedback and development. Support management to take appropriate steps to address performance issues.
  • Managing transfers of personnel in or out of the organisation as required by the award of contracts, when covered by TUPE legislation.
  • Delivering accurate management information to shape business decisions, focusing on key metrics including recruitment, attrition, employee relations, absence.
  • Leading and supporting change management initiatives while maintaining effective operational delivery.
  • Developing, leading and supporting the people team in ensuring good employee relations through active engagement of employee representatives, employees and contractors.
  • Sharing knowledge and experience with the people team to help shape best practice, a consistent approach and ensure business goals are met.
  • Acting as a safety leader for all people related safety issues, lead safety principles within the business and challenge unsafe activities.

You'll have:


  • Experience in a HR Generalist role in a similar environment (Engineering/Manufacturing).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Employee Relations case management experience.
  • Experience working in a unionised environment desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and experienced user of HR systems.
  • Ability to present confidently and professionally.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to challenge situations in line with HR best practice.
  • Hands on, cando attitude who likes to get involved in the detail and follow through on situations to completion.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to effectively work alone or in teams.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and deliverables and work in a highpressured environment.
