Job summary:


The role of the LfE Officer is to build an understanding of the health of the MOD acquisition system and Project Delivery by identifying, accessing and maintaining a strong understanding of LfE outputs and capabilities across Defence, enabling the generation of insight into systemic and thematic issues across the Department.

The role will work closely with a wider team that integrates the analysis of quantitative and qualitative information sources to develop insights on the root causes of systemic issues and propose improvements or interventions that will enable Defence to learn from its experience.

This is a key role in the DAPD Portfolio (Insights and Impact) team with an opportunity for wide-reaching impact from the centre of the Department.


As part of this role, the LfE Officer will support colleagues in the Project Delivery Function by championing and role modelling best practice in LfE across Defence, contributing to the standardisation of the MOD's approach to capturing and embedding LfE, in line with guidance set out by the IPA.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


Key responsibilities include:

  • Capturing LfE from across the Front-Line Commands and Enabling Organisations to identify systemic risks or issues, investigating root causes and driving thematic analysis of lessons across Defence to develop insights on how issues might be avoided in future.
  • Engaging with a vast stakeholder network to establish a panDefence perspective, maturing LfE processes, skills and awareness across the Department to promote a standardised and collaborative approach to capturing and sharing LfE.
  • Supporting colleagues across DAPD by providing LfE expertise to inform approaches to the training and upskilling of Project Delivery professionals across Defence, to enable an evidencebased rationale for the initiation of change programmes and to build an understanding of the impact of those programmes on the acquisition system.

  • Skilled at effective communication through formal written reports, workshop facilitation and presentations to diverse and vast stakeholder groups.

Ability to Deliver at Pace - experienced at multitasking and working flexibly by prioritising effectively, managing own workload and ensuring attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuous learning and development, showing you are inquisitive, seek out new information and look for new ways to develop yourself.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and MS Teams as tools for organising, collaborating and communicating.
