Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant in Emergency Medicine based at the Fairfield Hospital Site.There are opportunities to work full-time or part-time and to be part of a highly motivated and supportive Consultant group working in a busy Accident and Emergency Department which sees over 75,000 attendances a year.
We are looking for an applicant who will bring a focus to high performance and quality of care to our patients.
Pursuit of a specialist interest can be accommodated.A Consultant in Emergency Medicine is required to join the existing team of Consultants at the Fairfield General Hospital.
This appointment [10 PAs which includes 2.5 SPA's] will be made in accordance with the 2003 Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.
A formal job plan will be reviewed between the appointee and the Clinical Lead, three months after the commencement date of the appointee.
The exact timetable will be flexible, arranged in discussion with the appointee ensuring that it meets the requirements of the new Consultant contract and service needs of the Division.
This will be approved by the Medical Director. The Job Plan will then be reviewed at least annually.The Job Plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultant's duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year.
A Consultant in Emergency Medicine is required to join the existing team of Consultants at the Fairfield General Hospital. Post holders may, however, be required to work at any of the Trust sites if required.
Due to Covid and the zoning of the department it now consists of 5 resuscitation bays, 15 assessment bays / rooms, 2 rapid assessment bays and a dedicated room for patients with mental health needs.
2018 saw the opening of a dedicated same day emergency care facility, providing integrated urgent care services to the local population, with a dedicated ENPs, ANPs and primary care services.
Our Urgent Treatment Centre now sees an average of 70 patients a day, and our Same Day Emergency Care unit which admits an average of 45 patients a day.
The duty consultant will be expected to provide direct "shop floor" presence, being clinically involved in patients across all areas of the department and providing direct care to patients as well as leadership and supervision of other members of the clinical team.
2 hourly "quality rounds" are undertaken of all patients in the department to ensure that safety is maintained for patients requiring admission as well as those under review.
