Great Bear is a leading 3rd party logistics business providing a wide range of ambient warehousing services, shared-user and dedicated transport solutions to a wide variety of customers alongside offering a flexible mix of added-value services to simplify supply chain.
Our Rugby site are now recruiting for a Transport Controller on a full time permanent basis.
Salary:
£34,000 per annum.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off days & nights (06:00-18:00 & 18:00-06:00).
Job Description:
The purpose of a Transport Controller is to effectively maintain the transport operation and day to day business and observe company procedures within the Transport team.
Key Duties of a Transport Controller:
- Follow and adhere to the Transport Plan Daily, adapting and making changes to suit the business needs.
- Brief and Debrief Drivers at the start and end of shift.
- Ensure all paperwork is returned for all customer deliveries despatched from site, and chase outstanding POD's.
- Liaise with Customers regarding delivery issues.
- Adhere to legal compliance and company procedure regarding any defects, services, MOT's, etc.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers.
- Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhering to all health & safety/safe systems of work.
- To undertake any other reasonable tasks as detailed by the Senior Management Team.
- Liaising with staff at other depots and external contacts.
- Answering the telephone to customer and driver queries.
Qualifications:
- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Must be a team player that is capable of working on their own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent Data entry speed and accuracy, with ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working.
- Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both GBD and our customer.
