We operate over 7 million of warehousing space across 30+ locations in the UK. Our distribution network spans all corners of the country.

Our Rugby site are now recruiting for a Transport Controller on a full time permanent basis.


Salary:
£34,000 per annum.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off days & nights (06:00-18:00 & 18:00-06:00).


Job Description:


The purpose of a Transport Controller is to effectively maintain the transport operation and day to day business and observe company procedures within the Transport team.

The successful applicant will operate and deliver the transport service based on the plan provided.


Key Duties of a Transport Controller:

  • Follow and adhere to the Transport Plan Daily, adapting and making changes to suit the business needs.
  • Brief and Debrief Drivers at the start and end of shift.
  • Ensure all paperwork is returned for all customer deliveries despatched from site, and chase outstanding POD's.
  • Liaise with Customers regarding delivery issues.
  • Adhere to legal compliance and company procedure regarding any defects, services, MOT's, etc.
  • Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers.
  • Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhering to all health & safety/safe systems of work.
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks as detailed by the Senior Management Team.
  • Liaising with staff at other depots and external contacts.
  • Answering the telephone to customer and driver queries.

Qualifications:


  • Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player that is capable of working on their own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent Data entry speed and accuracy, with ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working.
  • Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both GBD and our customer.
