The Senior Cost Controllers role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines.

Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Senior Cost Controllers will make
As a Senior Cost Controllers, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

As a Senior Cost Controller, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you look to enhance project performance and stability through the collection, analysis, investigation, and reporting of meaningful cost information to allow informed decision-making at a program, project and zonal level.


Day to day, you will be Managing actuals against multiple cost performance baselines, managing change against multiple performance baselines, producing internal and external monthly reporting.

You will be Conducting data analysis and recommendations and coordinating forecasts from activity owners.

Essential experience

  • Experience of a cost control/management environment
  • An understanding of project controls, specifically cost control, earned value, finance, scheduling or estimating
  • Excellent Stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels of the business
  • Previous Data analysis experience with a working knowledge of Excel
  • Personal effectiveness and drive

Beneficial:


  • Educated to degree level or qualified with an APMP/ or equivalent experience
  • Experience of a purposebuilt cost management system (Cobra, Ecosys et cetera)
