Our client are a world leading manufacturing & production business with 41 sites in the UK who supply into the retail FMCG sector.
With over 8,000 loads on a typical day to day basis - this is an extremely fast-paced transport operation and would suit those looking to grow and advance a career in the sector.
Future growth is also planned for the site, thus resulting in high levels of opportunities moving into 2023 onwards
As a Transport Planner you will report into the Transport Planning Manager and Head of Logistics on a daily basis.
This role will primarily be responsible for planning, in a timely manner transport requirements on a day 1 / day 2 basis, so that the team meet the required plan, logistics service and cost performance targets.
- Adopt and ensure compliance on all aspects of H&S legislation with the target of zero harm.
- Drive business performance through evaluation of driver analytics.
- Populate and maintain scheduling and booking and tracker systems.
- Using a mix of automated and manual tools undertake transport planning and daily execution / performance tracking of Live Load Collection from farms.
- Scheduling of: Export, intersite movements, packaging materials, stock and retail orders, B2B and food service deliveries.
- Share accurate information with own drivers and service providers to enable effective operations.
- Administer and manage the operational plan performance, DOT, breakdowns / programme changes and driver issues.
- Identify lane / loads requirements, risk and risk mitigations for own and third party providers.
- Work with internal stakeholders to utilise own fleet and third party to obtain the optimal cost
The Successful Applicant:
The successful Transport Planner will be commutable to the Grantham area of Leciestershire and have the following background:
- Either a Transport Professional (office based) or a graduate seeking a graduate in the logistics industry.
- Ideally 1+ years transport experience
- Experience in managing drivers & planning routes
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Experienced in the use of IT equipment (ideally transport management software)
- Excellent communication skills.
