Contract type:
Long Term Contract, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only. September 2023 to July 2024, if you start in September 2023

This role will give you great foundations in Mental Health and SEN education to take into your Criminal and Youth Justice aspirations, especially if you aspire to work in Criminal, Youth Justice, Social justice.

If you have sincere and genuine aspirations within Probation or Parole, advocacy in the Criminal Justice System in general, this is a great SEN LSA role in which to start towards those aspirations.

GSL requires someone who wants to sincerely advocate for SEMH children, understanding the student's successes and challenges, all seen through a clinical and progressive and pragmatic lens.

Youth and Community, Psychology & Criminology Graduates required for this LSA role in Basildon, you will be working children aged 5-19 who have low tolerance levels for stress.

If you have ambitions within advocacy and social care, this is a good role to start in.

If you are not a graduate, I would still love to hear from you and discuss your objectives and where your compassion and empathy comes from for these sectors.

Being able to raise student's emotional & academic attainment is crucial, the ability to connect while also having good academic content, is key.

But connecting comes first and in an Alternative Provisions and Specialist SEN schools.

At the point of referral to the provision many pupils have additional, associated and sometimes complex needs, which may include ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder); ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder); ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder Tourette's; Mental Health Difficulties; Language and Learning difficulties; Asperger's or are on the Autistic Spectrum.

It won't always be apparent if a child is in the school and has an EHCP for their SEMH, when it could possibly be for an element of SEN that has been missed.

This is an sub optimal position to be in and can happen, much the same as children who are in the mainstream, could well prosper better in a SEN specialist school.

_Can you make the student's life just that little bit better today, keep them safe and demonstrate the value of an education to the students?_

In addition, can you keep the children safe? You will see a Behaviour team in action and receive manual handling training.

Sincerity is a major key in this role, your objectives within youth advocacy and social justice could well come to the fore, restorative processes will form the foundations of this.

You won't achieve much without it.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
