Reporting to the Marine Business Leader, the Head of the Portfolio Management Office is accountable for implementing a PMO function with a longer term, strategic vision to expand the PMO service more broadly.

Initially this role will be responsible for reviewing and continuously improving existing processes, practices, behaviours and culture.

Further supporting the project managers in their role to continue to successfully schedule, monitor, control and deliver inflight projects and programmes.


Building on this, the Head of PMO will be accountable for providing visibility of the pipeline and the portfolio of inflight delivery, ensuring it is aligned to the Marine vision and strategic goals.

Key performance indicators will include improving quality and cost management whilst reducing risks and continuously improving the end-to-end project and programme delivery processes for GE Marine.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visibility of the the delivery pipeline
  • Successful delivery of projects, programmes and portfolio
  • Governance of delivery to include continuous improvement activities
  • Reporting to include visual management
  • KPI development and monitoring

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience of implementing, leading and continuously developing and expanding a Portfolio Management Office in a large organisation.
  • Certified and experienced in Project Management Software, Tools and Process
  • Proven financial management skills and experience with excellent attention to detail.
  • Qualified and experienced in change management, understanding the importance of managing all aspects of change and the challenges this can entail.
  • Skilled in process reengineering and the production of process maps and procedural documentation.
  • Proven experience of creating and delivering training programmes in support of continuous improvement.
  • An exceptional stakeholder manager who excels when working in a matrix management structure.
  • Naturally curious with a desire to understand, interpret, resolve and improve.
  • Excellent organisational abilities. Able to manage multiple demands and effectively prioritise whilst working in complex environments and staying calm under pressure.
  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Office, Teams and project management tools and techniques.
