MMP Consultancy are working with a fantastic public-sector organisation based in Bristol to recruit an Admin Assistant for Bereavement Services to work on a Temporary Contract.

We are seeking an individual to provide an efficient day-to-day administration service to the Cemeteries and Crematorium Office in order to ensure that customer service levels are maintained and that the office runs smoothly


Key job outcomes/accountabilities:

  • Complete all aspects of administration related to the running of the cemeteries and crematorium.
  • Undertake general reception duties greeting families and funeral directors and assisting with their enquires, resolving day to day matters as appropriate and passing on more complex enquiries to the appropriate person.
  • Receive and assist with telephone enquiries from funeral directors, members of the public and ministers of religion, resolving day to day matters as appropriate and passing on more complex enquiries to the relevant person.
  • Complete all aspects of financial administration including invoicing and weekly banking duties.
  • Sensitively assist families in their decisions relating to the laying to rest of cremated remains and the choosing of memorial options.
  • Abide by all relevant procedures in the releasing of human remains to funeral directors and families.
  • Liaise with Monumental Masons to locate graves

Skills & Abilities:

  • Use the burial and cremation software system.
  • Undertake routine clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying and receiving and dispatching mail.
  • Answer basic correspondence and provide advice to the public on memorialisation, genealogical searches and other aspects of the service.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of cemetery plans, interment registers and cremation records.
  • Provide cover in the chapel where necessary including operating music systems in the chapel and attending services ensuring that services are carried out in accordance with the family's instructions and all relevant operational procedures and guidelines
