Job summary:
The Security and Information Management team coordinates and promotes best practice in managing Ofsted's information. Managing information well is key to Ofsted's improvement, efficiency and effectiveness agenda. The team also work with the business to promote transparency and the proactive publication of information.
Information Management colleagues work on the whole information lifecycle; from the point it is created to the point it needs publishing, reusing, archiving or deleting.
The Information Security Specialist role is to help protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Ofsted's information, and to develop, maintain and support the administrative and technical activities to provide that protection.
Job description:
The key responsibilities of the role are outlined below. However, this is an overview of the role and is not exhaustive. Ofsted reserves the right to assign other duties commensurate with the
B1 grade as required.
- Managing and developing the supply chain security assurance process.
- Creating and delivering security awareness communications programmes, guidance and promoting a high standard of administrator, business and user information security disciplines.
- Managing the Information Security communication plan.
- Supporting the team with the maintenance of the Information Security Policy framework.
- Supporting the incident manager in end to end management of technology related incidents.
- Supporting with security architecture and delivery discussions and to contribute to the security aspects of systems design and delivery.
- Support with IT security and information assurance compliance activities and review of mitigation actions.
- Supporting the team with risk management and information assurance activities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the teams KPI and other reporting activities.

- A sound understanding of UK government and security industry best practice security principles and technical controls.
- Experience of Information Security management and delivery.
- Experience or clear understanding of supply chain security management.
- Experience of building positive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and nontechnical audience. (This will be in a presentation format).
- A sound understanding of UK government and security industry best practice security principles and technical controls.
- Experience of Information Security management and delivery.
- Experience or clear understanding of supply chain security management.
