Description
The post holder will be required to streamline work processes to ensure an efficient and professional service.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive PA and Secretarial service to the Specialty Consultants and their staff.

The post holder will liaise with other secretarial and clerical teams to ensure that this service is of the highest quality.

The post holder will ensure effective and timely communication with patients and members of outside organisations.

The post holder will be required to work under the guidance of their consultant and demonstrate initiative; planning and prioritising own time to ensure that deadlines are met.


To provide a consistent approach across the Trust, using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to ensure that functions of the role are carried out correctly within given timescales.


  • To provide a full Personal Assistant service to the Specialty including the management of consultant's diaries.
  • To ensure effective time management of all staff under their remit.
  • To co-ordinate the effect of medical staff on-call rota to ensure effective service delivery including the notification of clinic cancellations and amendments to the appropriate personnel within the time limit set by the Trust.
  • Responsible for the distribution of clinics letters within their specialty (digital and otherwise) to the Clerical Team for completion within the time limits set by the Trust.
  • To ensure digitally dictated letters are downloaded and uploaded for transcription within the limits set by the Trust.
  • To ensure clinic letters are completed and dispatched chronologically within the time limits set by the Trust
