We're looking for an SHE Lead to join the INEOS Acetyls team. We need highly motivated individuals who want to be part of our growing business.


INEOS Acetyls is a global chemicals business producing acetic acid and a range of derivatives across Europe, Asia, and America.

You will be based at the Hull site, which is the largest producer of acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and ethyl acetate in Europe.

The products we produce are essential building blocks used in almost every industry, including renewable power, automotive, pharmaceuticals, coatings, and têxtiles.


Hull is also home to the business's global Technology Development and Support Team and is based on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park - a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses at the heart of the UK's energy estuary.

About the opportunity


You will be required to set the direction for many SHE related matters for the INEOS business at Hull and manage the associated SHE standards for an upper tier COMAH site.

It is therefore core to the role to uphold, promote and demonstrate adherence to the INEOS 20 behavioural & process safety principles and the life-saving rules in all activities undertaken through the development of SHE systems and processes, in the form of local procedures and practices that reflect current legislation and company policies.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Act as Role model for INEOS safety standards, by showing leadership around the Life Saving Rules and the 20 Safety Principles, fostering the development of a strong 'speak up' safety and operating culture across the INEOS organisation.
  • Owner of a specific set of SSOs, which includes the Control of Work 200 Series, that drive operational activities, making sure they are managed, and kept up to date by implementing amendments to improve quality, effectiveness, practicality and efficiency whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
  • Point of contact for key behavioural safety and occupational health topics including but not limited to, COSHH, PTW and TRA. Acting as the adjudicator on policy interpretation with the authority to decide on dispensations where deviations may be required.
  • Trainer for specialised areas of responsibility that include CoW, including passout authority, accountable for example, the delivery of both Btype and Atype training courses and carrying out passout interviews.
  • Principal hot work and confined space entry permit countersignatory (Atype), responsible for supporting activities across the site, where that extra help is needed during periods of peak demand or labour shortage, ensuring consistently high standards and compliance is met at all times.
  • Owner of the field selfverification programme, with a responsibility for ensuring that the audit programme is administered throughout the year.
  • Peer group lead and member of the planning team for the Site's Incident Management Team, responsible for looking after the rota and the training of INEOS planning team members.
  • Responsible for the assurance of crisis and continuity at a local level, ensuring that procedures and practices are fit for purpose and adhered to by having ownership of any relevant SSOs or practices, and testing them at all levels across the INEOS organisation at Hull.
  • TAR SHE Lead, responsible for managing the TAR SHE Management team leading up to and during the event. Responsibilities include developing & implementing TAR safety plans & managing the TAR SHE key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for providing SHE support in the management
