Job description:
- Our Operational Delivery teams sit within the Schools Finance Support and Oversight (SFSO) Directorate, which is an exciting place to work. We lead on several areas of work with academies and free schools managing engagement with our partners including government ministers, Regional Directors and our service users including parents and academy trusts. We work collaboratively with colleagues from across the department in a 'one team' working approach to delivery.
- SFSO supports schools to achieve high standards of financial management, ensuring public funds are properly spent to deliver world class education by:
- Making sure schools have sufficient funds to operate
- Ensuring schools have the capability and tools to manage resources effectively
- Providing assurance that public money is being used for the purposes intended, and schools are compliant within the financial framework.
The BOSS team is at the heart of the division, leading on workload planning and work allocation, capacity management, responding to commissions, KPI and performance management, learning & development and HR.
Analysing data, including numerical data, and evaluating evidence plays a key part in this roleSome of the duties may include:- Analysing data and developing high quality reports and outputs in a range of formats including Word, Excel and PowerPoint for a range of audiences. (A knowledge of Power BI would be highly beneficial in this role but not essential)
- Effective prioritisation of own workload identifying and taking prompt and effective action
- Triaging customer enquiries to ensure they reach the right place at pace.
- The management of a central inbox receiving requests and commissioning out to the team, setting deadlines, collating and responding at pace
- Managing the inbox and diary commitments for the Deputy Director
- Developing and supporting programme products e.g. risk registers, plans, process charts and maps.
- Developing high quality reports and outputs in a range of formats including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Forging effective networks and relationships across the team, Division and wider Department
- Communicating and working collaboratively, using both oral and written communications and meeting customer expectations in line with departmental service level agreements
- Management of the division's electronic storage areas (e.g. Sharepoint and Microsoft Teams) updating key documents as required
- The management of a range of customer facing casework
- Support the division in the management of cases with single and multiacademy trusts which cover a range of areas, including financial management and proactive intervention
About the Apprenticeship
This is an excellent opportunity to gain either a Level 4 apprenticeship in Data Analysis or a Level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration
To be eligible:
- You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
- You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You must not have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You already have all the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have a degree (or equivalent) in business administration, data analysis or similar
- Part of this apprenticeship is to complete a level 2 English and maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and maths at Level 4 (grade C) or equivalent or a higher grade, you will not need to complete the functional skills qualification.
