About us
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a 954-bed maximum-security remand facility based in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.

About the role

At the MRC, each Justice Officer role specialises in one of five streams - Records/Property, Human Resources, Stores/Canteen, Infrastructure/Technology/Finance and Administration.

Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.


In this role, you will:

- provide a range of high quality, confidential and efficient administrative services, and support to the Offender Services Unit
- maintain data integrity of attendance records, databases, and spreadsheets
- generate referral lists on a daily basis for programs and services.

About you
- a demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- proven experience in, or understanding of, working within a correctional environment
- excellent customer focus, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
