£20,827- £21,171 Per annum, plus £6,200 for London weighting
HMP Thameside is a privately run prison estate located in Southeast London. The prison is a remand establishment operated by Serco Ltd.
We have an opening for an Operational Support Officer (OSO) working primarily in the Stores & Procurement department. The individual may also be called upon to work in the Prisoners Finance department when needed to complement staffing in that area
The Stores department is responsible for the purchasing and distribution of essential supplies and services for the smooth running and operation of the prison.
The role is physically demanding as it involves manual handling - required to lift/move heavy items. Boxes can weigh between 20kg-30kg, and the individual must be comfortable lifting up to that amount.
The job holder will be required to carry out some of the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:
- Stock replenishment
- reviewing stock and inventory, going round the Storeroom, and recording items we are running low in.
- Raise Purchase Order (PO) for suppliers. Placing requisition orders on the Guided Buying and SAP databases.
- Handling telephone enquiries from Suppliers and providing advice to staff and customers.
- Visiting the Parcel Room to collect delivery/items dropped at the front desk. Boxes can weight up to 30kg
- Assisting in the Finance department undertaking administrative tasks as instructed by management.
What you need to do the job
This is an opportunity for an individual who has previous Storekeeping experience.
It is important that they have good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally engage face to face with the customer.
There is a considerable amount of manual handling associated with this role. You must be physically able due to the amount of lifting involved in the role. Furthermore, having a working knowledge of excel spreadsheets would be beneficial.What we offer
