Priory Hospital Barnt Green is located in the stunning Lickey Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Birmingham City Centre.

We have thirty-three beds across three wards including ten NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care beds for women, thirteen NHS acute beds for men and women and ten private beds for men and women.

In addition to providing inpatient services, the hospital has a large Outpatient department and regional conference facilities.


The acute wards on site provides patients with excellent space and facilities, including en-suite bedrooms and large living spaces furnished with activity equipment such as games consoles.


Outside of the wards, a purpose built therapy suite contains a rehabilitation kitchen for patient cooking sessions, and a sessional therapy room.

The hospital is set in the centre of an extensive nature reserve, which contains an abundance of flora & fauna.

The site also has areas for outside sports activity.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with effective communication skills to work as part of our team of Medical Secretaries.

The team provides an efficient and professional secretarial service to our Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring business processes are effectively and resourcefully managed to support the delivery of a quality care service.

Knowledge / Education / Skills

  • Educated to GCSE (grades A-C) or equivalent standard.
  • Excellent computer and Microsoft office skills and can audiotype.
  • An understanding of medical terminology is required.
  • Passionate about providing a high quality service to the hospital.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Detail oriented and excellent attention to detail
  • A team worker
  • A high level of confidentiality and integrity required.
Experience

  • Experience within an administrative, customer service, clinical or other appropriate background.
  • Experience of working within a team and sharing workload to ensure the department runs effectively.
  • Generally work within existing procedures and processes, however, there will occasionally be the need for more adaptive thinking, particularly when dealing with patients and their families.
