Democratic Services Officer needed in Dudley, £16.11ph PAYE - Reference:76917
Providing support services to Committees, decision making or appeals bodies and any other bodies, fora and working groups which may be assigned to the post holder from time to time, including the following:

  • preparation of agenda and reports.
- all preparatory work required before meetings.
- attendance at meetings and the recording of decisions.
- preparation and finalisation of minutes.
- distribution and communication of decisions.
- dealing with all related correspondence.

  • Dealing with all administrative matters arising from meetings, ensuring that decisions are communicated to those responsible for implementation and monitoring the progress of decisions to ensure that action is taken and properly coordinated.
  • Ensuring that all necessary record systems are adequately maintained, extended and available, where required, for public inspection, in connection with the duties and responsibilities allocated to the post holder.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of existing working methods and practices, particularly in connection with the business planning process, and to assist in developing and implementing changes or service improvements as may be required from time to time.
  • Assisting in the introduction and development of new technology within the Section to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining effective communication with other Sections, officers at all levels in other Directorates, Members and the general public.
  • Acting as the representative of the Directorate at any meetings that may be assigned to the post holder and providing such procedural advice and guidance at those meetings as may be required.
  • Assisting with the training and supervision of other staff within the Section as may be appropriate from time to time.
  • Participating in the provision of training and briefing sessions for officers within other Sections or Directorates in relation to the democratic processes.
  • Participating in development programmes for elected Members, including acting as a first point of contact for newly elected Councillors.
  • Undertaking research and investigation into issues that may arise from time to time in connection with the Democratic Services Section.
  • Undertaking other administrative tasks, functions and associated duties as may be required in connection with the responsibilities of the Democratic Services Section.
  • Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post or to assist the Division in the fulfilment of its objectives as may reasonably be required of the post holder from time to time.

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis
