We have an exciting opportunity for a LAS ST3+ in Trauma and Orthopaedics from 7th February th August 2024. This posts will form part of the surgical 1:11 on call SpR rota at Morriston Hospital.

Post is vacant from 7th February th August 2024 only


The Department of Trauma and Ortopaedics is led by a Clinical Director supported Clinical Leads, Head of Nursing and General Managers.


We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales especially in the areas of research & development and multi-professional teaching.


We place great emphasis on continuous professional development and will actively support you in the development and achievement of personal goals.


You will provide a clinical service in conjunction with your colleagues under the direction of a Consultant in T & O, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.

You will be required to participate in a 1:12 on call rota with prospective cover.


You will be required to contribute to theT & O inpatients, day cases and out patients, with an appropriate level of consultant supervision according to your level of experience.

You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.

Morriston Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including specialist services servingthe local population.

These services are supported by critical care facilities, which include a 28 bed general ITU and HDU, a cardiac ITU and HDU, a plastic surgery ITU and HDU and a full range of high quality diagnostic and therapeutic services.

The hospital component encompasses a Coronary Care Unit, several General Medical specialties, a well-developed Trauma and Orthopaedic service & a range of General Surgical specialties.


Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people.

We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science.

The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services:
Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.


The Health Board is part of A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), which is a partnership with Hywel Dda UHB and Swansea University.

Aimed at improving the wellbeing and wealth of South West Wales.
